FAQ
Questions parents ask
Everything we get asked at the front desk and in the DMs, answered plainly. Every answer is open so you can scan.
First class
My child has never done gymnastics. Is that okay?
That's exactly who these classes are for. We start wherever your child is!
Is the first class really free?
Yes. Your child's first class is on us, no strings. Click Book a Free First Class, tell us about your kiddo, and Coach Melana will call you to find the right class and day.
What happens after I book?
Coach Melana calls you at the time you picked. She'll ask a little about your child, check which class has room, and get your kiddo's first class on the calendar. The time slot you pick online is for that phone call, not the class itself.
Classes
Do you do competitions?
No, and we don't plan to. Recreation, fun, and learning is the whole point.
What if we miss a class?
You can make it up in another class in the same age group that week if there's room. As classes and openings are limited, we recommend you do your best to make it to your reserved class.
My child has sensory needs or some anxiety. Will this work?
These classes were designed with children like yours in mind. The routine stays accessible, the coaches are patient, and a licensed OT helped shape the whole program. And for kiddos who need a smaller, calmer class, there's Sensory Fins on Fridays.
What ages do you take?
Walking through age 9 for classes. Baby Sharks starts the day they can toddle across the mat, and Sharks runs through age 9. Older than 9? We do private training with older kids too. Call or text us and we'll set it up.
None of the class times work for us. Now what?
Book a free first class anyway and tell us which days would work. We're always adding new class times, so we'll put your kiddo on the waitlist and let you know the minute a spot opens up.
How often are classes?
Once a week, same day and time each week. Baby Sharks is 30 minutes, Sharks is a full hour, and everything else is 45 minutes.
How big are the classes?
8 to 10 kids, so your child actually gets noticed. Sensory Fins is 3 kids per coach and Mighty Sharks is 2 per coach.
Do you have a class just for boys?
Yes. Reef Riders is our boys-only class for ages 3 to 6, Tuesdays at 5:00.
Do you have a daytime class for homeschool families?
Yes. Homeschool Sharks meets Wednesdays at 12:30 for ages 5 to 7, and Baby Sharks meets at 12:00 right before it.
Which class is right for my child?
Go by age first: Baby Sharks (walking to 3), Guppies (3 to 4), Pups (5 to 6), Sharks (7 to 9), Reef Riders (boys 3 to 6) and Homeschool Sharks (5 to 7). If your kiddo is on the line between two, come try one and we'll tell you straight if the other is a better fit.
Pricing
How much does it cost?
$120 every 4 weeks for one class a week. Already train at Shark Bite Fitness? Ask about the Shark Bite Special. Sensory Fins and Mighty Sharks are priced separately.
Do you take Step Up For Students?
Yes. Shark Bite Gymnastics is a registered Step Up For Students provider. Step Up only bills monthly, so Step Up families pay $129 a month instead of $120 every 4 weeks for the weekly classes. Sensory Fins and Mighty Sharks take Step Up too and are priced separately. Tell us you're using Step Up when you book and we'll set it up.
Is there a contract?
Membership runs every 4 weeks (or monthly on Step Up) and you can cancel through the Membership Cancellation link at the bottom of any page.
What do the Sharks in Motion classes cost?
Sensory Fins and Mighty Sharks are priced separately from our regular classes because the groups are so small and run by a pediatric occupational therapist. Ask us when you book and we'll walk you through it. Step Up is accepted on both.
Sharks in Motion
Does my child need a diagnosis for Sensory Fins?
No. Diagnosed or suspected, if sensory stuff is hard for your kiddo, this class was built for them.
Can I stay with my child in Sensory Fins or Mighty Sharks?
Yes! Parents are welcome on the mat, and so is your child's RBT, therapist or caregiver. A lot of parents like seeing what works for their kiddo in class so they can try it at home.
What if my child has a hard day?
Then it's a "watch from the mat" day. That happens, and we'll try again next Friday.
Is there anyone Sharks in Motion isn't right for?
The one thing these classes aren't built for is a child who gets aggressive with themselves or other kids. If that's your kiddo, reach out anyway and we'll talk about what might work.
Sensory Fins or Mighty Sharks: which one is for my child?
Sensory Fins is for kids 5 to 9 with autism, ADHD or sensory processing needs, 3 kids per coach. Mighty Sharks is for kids 5 to 9 with developmental delays, neurological diagnoses or tone differences who need more physical help, 2 kids per coach. Book either one and we'll tell you straight which is the better fit.
The gym
Where are you?
307 SW 7th Pl in Cape Coral, FL 33991, in the same building as Shark Bite Fitness. There's free parking out front.
Do you do birthday parties?
Yes! Two hours of the whole gym being theirs, on weekends. Our coaches run the games, we set up and clean up, you bring the cake. Details are on our birthday parties page.
Who coaches the classes?
Coach Melana is our head gymnastics coach and runs the floor. The Sharks in Motion classes are coached by Steph, a pediatric occupational therapist, right alongside her.
What does "OT-designed" mean?
A licensed occupational therapist builds and reviews our programming. Plenty of gyms say every kid is welcome here. We're the one that put real expertise behind it.
How do I cancel?
Use the Membership Cancellation link at the bottom of any page. It takes a minute, and we'd love to have your kiddo back whenever it fits again.
